My Biggest Lesson From My Recent Powerlifting Comp
“You learn more from your failures than you do from your wins. “
I’m so grateful to have such a supportive group of people around me, who opened my mind to focus on the positives when I needed it!
It’s easy to get caught up in emotions when things don’t go to plan.
You work so hard for so long for this one rep and moment and it just doesn’t go to plan. I missed a lift, well 3 to be exact 🙋🏽♀️
Missing a lift can be unpleasant, frustrating ( especially when you have hit that weight previously) and as an athlete you can take it quite personally embarrassing or upsetting and it’s easy to dwell on it.
But the most important thing is you need need to be able to move on from a missed lift and not let it impact your future performance.
Some close friends said to me that when you fail or miss a lift in this case,
It gives you the opportunity to reflect, asses and become better.
Every attempt is practice for the next one.
Every single rep, set, and error makes me better.
We measure success on how well you follow your process even if its the outcome you don’t expect that “one day “ does not define you.
How you show up throughout your process and how you continue to show ups afterwards is what counts. Celebrate all the other small wins you might have had throughout the day of competition.
Every obstacle is an opportunity to do and be better.
Develops your mental strength
